Apart from its core competences in the area of power electronics reliability, materials research, and modeling and simulation, KAI provides a well-equipped electronics laboratory. Proprietary prototype stress test equipment is also available at KAI to study the reliability of power semiconductor devices and learn about their dominant failure modes.
Materials research and characterization is supported by a selection of dedicated equipment for physical parameter extraction and model verification. Device characterization is done using state-of-the-art electrical test equipment, completed by optical irradiation methods and a cryogenic probe station. Further advanced measurement methods, in particular regarding surface analytics and electrochemistry, are available within our extended network of academic research partners.
For efficient and fast numerical simulation (especially using Finite Element Modelling, FEM), KAI disposes of own dedicated state-of-the-art high performance computing resources.
